I loved this course! I’m writing early…being that I have a routine and daily practice of sensory scans and meditation in place for some time now. In my experience, when practicing sensory scans daily, I’m more in my body and less in my head throughout the day. I’m living life from my instincts and less through force (or have to). My interactions with my family, friends and colleagues are more connected, calm and based in an envelope of love. Most importantly for me, I notice my experience when I DON’T practice the scans daily in the morning. Life occurs via default and past based conversations vs the mastery of living a created life in the present being pulled into the future toward my goals, dreams and visions.

I respect the daily practice of parts work. Through this evening’s discussion I’ve potentially discovered a new part or two. I also may have a part or two to remove from my mandala. The distinction of “We came to this planet with these parts” have me looking newly at the parts I’ve identified. The more I become familiar with my parts…the less of a daily practice it is for me. I’m mostly using my mandala before specific events, uncomfortable situations etc… The gap in my practice right now is telling one on myself. Taking this practice on this week (daily)…I can see…will have me present to which part is speaking at any given time. Being present to this will strengthen my muscle of awareness around being responsible for my own happiness and “who” is talking when I’m speaking. I’m also going to be listening powerfully to “who” is potentially talking to me when having conversations with other people I know. Fun!

I’m looking forward mostly to tuning into other people’s council this week. I’m excited about what that practice will make present for my relationships with new people. More to come…

Rollin, so much wisdom and great insight shared by you! What I enjoyed most from your post was not just your understanding and practicing of the material that you are learning about, but your ability to take the Partswork in a creative direction that works best for you. Practicing being aware of your parts in the present moment, and also being intentional of what parts you need to show up for certain future events, is a great way to utilize this practice so that you are able to keep learning and growing!

Also sharing your creative approach to this work shows that you are embracing this work from a place of love, enjoyment, and from Soul! I don’t hear you saying you HAVE to do this work, but rather you GET to do this work. And that right there is how you make this consistently into a way of life without experiencing “burn out”. Way to go!

Well said Rollin! I love the fact that we can identify parts sand how with each day or new discussion of the mandala we discover new meaning to these parts or additional parts.

For me there may be parts who are far more active than others yet I have chose to let them stay in the shadows of the mandala for when I may be searching for a part that may be triggering another part.

I have found myself taking note of parts that show up and how they react to daily interaction with others as well. I have found the laughter of my soul lighting my heart and nerves when a part that I don’t think of shows up to take on anothers parts (ie at work).

It is amazing how we can feel the presence of others counsels when they move in or have interaction in the moment of conversation. In these moments I have found myself asking who I am interacting with at the moment if they can identify or feel comfortable speaking of a counsel member who may be present at the time. I have found in doing this it opens up conversation on a deeper level if the moment or environment is hectic and distracting from others in the space and allows for a level of comfort and taking a moment to breath deeper easing tension or distractions.

Parts work is a favorite of mine in helping others relate. I look forward to this interaction with clients.

Laughter of the Soul! As I hear you share more and more about this part of you over the year it almost sounds like the mortar or bonding agent that keeps you aligned with Soul and Vision. Love it.

I would be interested to hear more about how your Parts have been interacting and showing up at work after our last F2F as well. I’m sure your classmates could get a lot of value if you shared your story and experience with this! If anything, I would love to hear more about it!

I enjoy doing the parts work. I’ve had a couple experiences that really brought forward a couple parts and I had a conversation between the 2. It was quite interesting.
It is fun, and I was a bit surprised when tuning into other’s council during our conversation.
Programming is ongoing and helpful in many ways. Even if it’s just reassuring myself that it’s ok to just relax this week while my daughter is away, which is hard for me to do. I am allowed to have fun and relax. While she’s away certain parts definitely want to take over!

Isn’t it interesting how aware we become of our “programming” that we have created for ourselves over the years? That is the intention of these practices and with time we start to really see that we tend to drop into our parts that we have programmed. So glad you were able to see that a change to your outside world had a shift in your parts and your baseline.

Sensory awareness is such a simple way for me to connect with my body and get out of my head. It also brings me to the present moment, slows me down and helps me connect with my surroundings. I am noticing that it has become harder for me to slow down and meditate in the mornings than mid-day or in the evening.

Doing parts work is something I look forward to exploring more. What I like most about it right now, is that while I am discovering more about myself and my different parts I am also able to hold those perspectives more loosely and feel more of a collective connection. The attachment to the parts lessons just by having more awareness and observing them.

By using a new sit spot routine, utilizing a mandala snapshot, and practicing being in the now, I am becoming more aware of the parts of that make up my soul.

I was reminded recently of Michael’s description of having to transition from one part to another near instantaneously. My wife called me at work, where I was deploying my professional and service parts, and said that there was an emergency at her work and I needed to come home to look after our daughter. I had to quickly transition to the husband and father parts in order to adequately handle the situation.

I made a mandala snapshot and took advantage of Michael’s suggestion to take a wander with my parts and get to know them better. It was good to have a visual representation of what I feel. I learned to better understand parts that I had previously labeled as “negative”. The parts that are prone to anxiety and fear should not be seen as negative, but rather should be repurposed into something more useful. Those parts are only there to protect me. Instead of inducing fear, they should become more observant to assess the situation. The place where regret lives should be repurposed to one that seeks out and embraces opportunity.
