Partswork is something that I have used through my own process and feel it has been one of the most beneficial tools that I have learned for myself. Learning about how to use this model with clients has been an interesting journey. I am excited to go deeper with this model in the deep dive. Working with the parts has seemed to be easier than the initial interview. I have a specific client that is only seeing the louder parts, the ones that she knows well and is struggling to see other parts, the parts that can help keep some of the louder parts in line. It seems as we continue to use Partswork we are uncover some of the other parts, but it seems to weigh on the client because it has put the already loud parts under a microscope. I know that some of what is happening is I am bringing some of my fear into the process. I still feel that I have a lot to learn about myself and my parts to help and use this model successfully with my clients.

Lisa,
Thank you for sharing. I think what you are doing with your clients is a very important tool when working with parts. What ever we can do to get our clients to really get into that part; if it is acting it out, understanding the dynamics of that part, or relating it to an object. The more the client can get in touch with the parts the easier it is for them to start using this tool on their own and integrate it into their life.

Sandy I like this idea I haven’t tried it. Sometimes it is difficult to get the gym all to myself with a client, but I think it is a great idea!!

Hello All,
It was great reading about what everyone took away from this intensive and how you are applying it to your coaching. I was able to meet with my client and go through a parts interview. I believe it was eye opening for her and she is discovering more and more parts other than just the loud ones that she knows well. Through her discover she is seeing the work that will be involved to correct and start to move forward. Her awareness has already created leaps and bounds for her.
Long term coaching feels like it is the only way with most clients unless they have a simple and small goal, but it feels like the initial goal always leads to something deeper. The trick is getting them to see that they need long term coaching and the benefit in a first session or a consult.

Adriana,
Thank you for sharing! I have been using the initial questionnaire and I believe it is a great tool. It provides me with a lot of information if the client is willing to share before meeting and really drives the session into what they are looking for a lot faster. I have also developed a post/pre for net session questionnaire so that the session isn’t focused around too much story about what happened in between sessions. I will share and hope it helps.
1. What were your goals/intentions throughout the last week?
2. What did your experience with these goals/intentions teach you?
3. Based on this experience what goals/intentions would you like to talk about for your session?
4. What additional questions are coming up for you that you would like me to know about? -

I had my first actual partswork interview with a client!!!
This was a client that is new we had only had two sessions prior to the interview. From his first session I realized that’s partswork would be a beneficial course of action because with some awareness he already new that he had certain aspects of himself that were running his life and causing excess anxiety and negative thoughts.
The client wanted to give it a try and it brought some things up that were difficult for him to see, but gave great awareness that he is not as in touch with some parts as he wants/needs to be. I am hoping that our partswork together continues and he what’s to commit to the longterm and do some deep self reflection.

Sandy,
I love her awareness and knowing what her longterm goal is. It sounds like finding the symbolism was very powerful for her. I can totally understand the desire to have a plan as a coach and also being flexible to clients wants and needs. I think your awareness and flexibility as a coach really shows!

I have a couple of clients that I have been seeing for over six months that I have still considered practice clients at a practice rate. I am wanting to convert them to regular clients which I don’t believe will be a difficult conversation, however I am wanting to change them a little more than what we had agreed on as practice clients. There is a little fear attached to this because I don’t want them to leave me. I know that they may leave but there is a high likelihood that they will continue with coaching.
One of these clients I have scheduled a partswork interview with actually for tomorrow. We have been dabbling in partswork in an old self vs new self kind of way and we agreed to give the partswork a try. I am excited for this client because she has a lot of trauma in her past. So we are trying to get her with an EMDR specialist and do what we can through coaching as well. Her new self really wants to live soul directed and not live in self deprecating thoughts.
She is a client that knows this is a longterm process. I am excited to see how the partswork goes.

I felt like the grief intensive was really good and almost very closely related to the trauma in that we are working with grief and finding the underlying question and goal. What is the grief keeping the client from? What do they need right now surrounding the grief?
I also found it interesting that some people may always be in a state of grief because we all grieve differently and about different things. Grief can be a sneaky culprit. Proving a safe place for a client with genuine concern and empathy is something that most do not experience from close family or friends. Family and friends may feel like they are doing a service but they may be creating more harm than good and not intentionally.

The brain 2 intensive has been very powerful in tying most of what we have learned so far together. I feel as though it was almost a missing piece and has brought new light to who I am as a coach and my individual style. Watching a client intentionally make changes to the brain through experiences and ritual has been an amazing piece to be apart of. It has changed a lot of my initial fears of how to incorporate nature and how power of a tool nature can be for the client.
It has been awesome to read about how it has helped and been incorporated with others in the cohort. It has also been very beneficial on my own personal growth.

Thank you for talking about just continuing to ask the client questions. I feel that during the grief process that some clients haven’t had a chance to really be heard and we can create that safe place to just be there for our clients and let them just talk. It sounds like through powerful questioning you were able to get her to a realization of the personal intimacy attachment. Sounds like it was a very powerful session.

Cory,
What a powerful session! I really like how you were able to incorporate partswpork into your session. It seemed as though it is the exact experience that your client needed. It is interesting how the metaphor of death can be such a great experience to some people and what it looks and feels like. Having a part of you die of as you and I have discue=ssed can be a very scary time and allowing the rebirth can be just as terrifying but so powerful at the same time.

Cory,
I have been referring people to the Dispenza podcasts as well. I have found that follow up in our next session around what he is talking about has been very beneficial on how to incorporate what he is talking about into ones life. Thank you for sharing!

I think that it is great that you have clients that are seeing specific specialists for their needs and that you are able to collaborate with the other professionals in the field. I am trying to build my referral group so that I can do the same. I also can really relate to what you and your client found through taking the session into nature and find a ritual that the client can use to facilitate her change!
