I actually struggled with this exercise. I found myself thinking too much and had to keep pulling myself back into the moment. I have been practicing during my daily walks for about two weeks. I am seeing some improvement, but still have a ways to go. I have to be more aware of the question, what is happening right now?

I have been away from the class for awhile as I was away from home. I was at a river “resort”, but my husband and I were the only guests on the 7.5-acre property. I spent a lot of time outdoors, practicing what I have learned so far. It was very different to be able to spend so much time being more aware internally and externally. At one point, it started snowing and I got to taste snowflakes on my lips. I loved hearing the wind and feeling it and the sunshine on my skin.

I totally agree with Jenna. I am finding this practice difficult, but want to keep at it. I love to do landscape photography. I am always trying to find something that catches my eye, so that I can focus in on it to photograph it.

It is winter here and we have had a lot of snow, so the environment was pretty quiet for the most part. It was really cool to focus on the birds chirping, the snow falling off the trees, and dogs bark. It did really indeed keep the random thoughts out. But I need to find a way to better block out the sounds from feet and vehicle tires crunching in the snow that come up occasional and disturb the peacefulness of my local forest.
