Roadmap for 6 months
1 preliminary session+ 8 sessions (4 per quarter)
Preliminary session:
In this session, there is an useful exchange of information between the Coach and the Coachee. The Coach clarifies what is Coaching, what is Nature Coaching and how to organize the whole pathway in a mutual alliance. The coachee provides information about his/her current situation and the desired future, goals and expectations. This is an important “checking point” to evaluate the client’s motivation and responsibility to undertake a process of growth and transformation.Session:1-4
They should be based on exploring the clients’ wants and needs. In these first 4 sessions the client should focus on the way of being they are forming and on connecting with their inner-sage through a mirroring process in the Nature. Work-in exercises in questioning and wandering should support this deep listening phase. Moreover, in this phase client should localize him/herself in one of the cardinal direction in the Four shields model and use it as a tool to check where he/she is in their personal process.
Sessions: 5-8
Setting SMARTER (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, timely, ecological, registered) goals and defining a plan of Actions. Client should understand who and what can be a facilitator or obstacle. For obstacles the “Removal of obstacles” exercise could be a valid tool to understand what is assumption behind behaviours and how to overcome this limiting believes. Clients should set also a monitoring plan to define how to stay attuned and responsive to their goal and commitment. I will ask them to find examples on what kind of strategies Nature applies for staying attuned and responsive. This could be a good work-out exercise to help people to connect with Nature and get inspired by Life principles ( Rif. Biomimicry 3.8).Every session will have an opening and closing ceremony . Opening ceremony is a visualized meditation to get connected in the here and now. The closing ceremony could be a thanks-giving moment where client express his/her gratitude.

My practice client was my ex colleague that was seeking direction for her current role as she doesn’t feel valued for all the potential she has. When we started the session she was very tensed and overactive due to the feeling of overwhelmed she was experiences. I wanted our coaching session was really a ceremony with a opening, a middle and a end. In the opening I wanted she eneter in the sacred space of our coaching relationship, “shaking away the dust from the road”: a few minute of calming down by using surrender breath and some kind of guided visualization. Then there was I phase of exploration, trying to understand what was the topic she wanted to bring in the session and the goal she wanted to reach. She tried to focus the discussion on the other people’s lacks or faults and I helped her, through open question, to have a wide angle vision and to look at the situation on different perspectives. What kind of character strengths were over or under-expressed in these unbalanced relationships? What was her need? She suddenly started to deeply understand the context and she understood that looking the situation from different angles can change completely the meaning of the whole story. I asked her what she feels it has changed from the beginning of the session (checking the mobility). How did she intend to change the interaction with her boss in the near future and what kind of actions she wanted to perform to reach the desired goals? On which character strengths she could leverage in managing her frustration?. Before closing the session I proposed a work-out asking her to wander in her backyard and finding answers in the Nature. Closing ceremony it was another surrender breath and guided visualisation: feel your feet grounded and as roots of tree go deeply in the earth connecting with the energy coming from the core. Her face, her expression was completely changed and it was like she reached another level of awareness.

Thank you very much for all your beautiful sharings. I think deep listening is also an “active” listening. Active because you are sensing what you are listening and also you are going beyond what you listen, hear and see. You are going beyond your client’s story, sensing his/her energy. It is like to see beyond the masks to be aligned with the other’s energy. Deep listening requires slowing down, paying attention to details, having a wide-angle vision focusing on the big picture and nurture your intuition. Deep listening is not an easy practice in this frantic world. Deep connection with Nature could be the right way to train ourselves to deep listening with our friends, family, colleagues and clients.

In the last two months a wonderful thing is happening to me while wandering in Nature: I often find a feather on my path as I walk. The first time this happened to me, I was walking in a wood: I was trying to figure out, with intention, if I had to stay or leave my previous job. I found so many symbols in response to my question, but what was definitive in taking a decision was… a feather that appeared to me as I walked. The feather was also one among three symbols I had to choose for my coaching brand … and that was for me the sign that I had to choose “the feather” as my brand logo. After that experience and choice, I gave up with my ex-job and I started to step into my new life wishing to take off my coaching activity. Incredibly, I have found several other feathers during my strolls and I have wondered what they are telling me. The last time was few days ago, while on holidays, walking in a Cedars Natural Reserve in Lebanon. As I was wandering trying to stay tuned to the environment baseline, I happened to glance on the ground spotting a beautiful hawk feather. Two days after it happened exactly the same along another trail in a Cedars forest. I asked myself “What are these feathers telling me?” “Why are they appearing to me?” I think the answer is that I should trust on myself and keep going on the path of my “new life” as it is the right one. After all, the feather is the logo of my Brand and surely all the feathers that I am finding on my pathway are an answer of the Nature to my tough choice.

Practicing objective awereness at my sit spot has been energizing and, on the other hand, calming. I could feel all the sensations on my body: the heath from the sun on my skin, the fresh of the grass on my legs and the sounds around me from the leaves, the birds’songs. I tried to get into that natural groove becoming a sounding board. I felt like a flower grounded on that meadow and I felt protected by the oak standing behind me. I realized through the sacred questions that I was feeling what I really needed at that time. I needed protection, support, hospitality. Nature was giving a quick feedback on my need. Objective awareness in my daily life (at work, with friends) it is not so easy to me. However, I have tried in different contexts and what I have noticed is that, closing your eyes, and attuning with the environment around us might help to notice sounds, energies voices in the background that I was completely ignoring because distracted by the loudest voice or sound. This has taught me that sometimes I am losing important information or precious details that could be very important for understanding the whole pictures: people are distracted by what is bigger or louder and they lose somehow what is hidden. Practicing the objective awareness may unfold another dimension of the reality thus changing our perspective

Hello Amber, thank you very much for your reflection. It is nice to be part of this group because I think we are attuned and aligned to similar values and feelings. We can share insights that sometimes we can’t share with everybody because they’re not in our wavelenght. A big hug from Italy

Hello everybody this is Silvia from Italy. I can’t join the living-class due to jet-lag but I am virtually with you.
These are my thoughts:
Nature connection is when I go to the woods and I find answers to my questions by stepping into signs that Nature is showing me as symbols that are speaking to me and showing me the right way. My soul is mirroring the Nature and Nature is mirroring me because I am enclosing its essence in my soul, and its voice in my inner sage.
I feel connected to Nature when my body and mood are affected by weather changes; when I sit outdoor and I get lost by staring the moon and feel her as my sister; when I go to the Dolomites… temple of my ancestors’ memory and spirit; when I feel sick or blue and my cat lies on my chest to give me his love. Connection with Nature is when I experience Elevation while walking in the Woods and I shiver of emotion and I feel compassion toward myself and the world and I tuned in the deep listening.
This connection is very important to me because is a kind of recharger when I feel overwhelmed, it’s a wisdom that I question when I have doubts and it’s a direct connection with my soul and pure essence of my spirit: a compass that shows me the North when I get lost. I feel in a Flow state when I get this connection. However, stay in connection with this “wild beat” is a real challenge in this frantic society where technology is trying to sweep away our memory of being part of Nature. Deadlines, job, family, and many other daily activities are putting us under pressure and stealing our time. Silence is a luxury good and green-spaces are replaced more and more by buildings and shopping malls. Human touch and human relationship are replaced by social-networks, emails and you are turned upside down by this whirlpool. We should push ourselves to create “secret moments” during the day or the week spending time to bring our mindful attention on Nature and practice connection by questioning on our feelings and emotions that this link triggers in ourselves.
