Welcome!!!
This is your online classroom area for the Foundations Modules.
When a cohort starts the NCC training they begin with the four Foundation Modules. These modules are offered in sequence and complete the first semester of the program. Once completed, the cohort moves on to the ToolBox Modules where students practice and enhance the foundational skills learned during the Foundation Modules. There are three major categories of learning goals that make up the Foundation Modules:
- Nature-Connection and Relationship
- Coaching Competencies
- Transformational Guiding Competencies
Nature-Connection and Relationship:
Nature-Connection is a state of mind, a way of being. It is accessible to all people. It is our birth-right. All our senses are wired for it, our brains and bodies are wired for it. Nature-connection practices reminds that Nature is the real healer/teacher. We as Nature-Connected Coaches and Guides are facilitators. Additionally, through our own connected relationship with nature we can learn a ton about how to show-up in the coaching/guiding relationships we share with our clients.
Coaching Competencies:
Professional Coaching is a non-clinical modality for supporting change and growth in clients. It’s competencies are applicable to many different types of clients such as life-coaching clients, businesses, personal relationships, executives, etc. The NCC program focus on life-coaching, and during the foundation modules we learn what is expected of us as Professional Coaches while discovering our unique “Coaching Presence”
Transformational Guiding Competencies:
These competencies are what make the NCC work unique from other forms of coaching and guiding. Skills like Deep Listening, Ceremony Facilitation, and Nature as the Guide are not taught anywhere else, or in the same way. Honing these skills will separate you from the rest of the coaches and guides out there, increasing your effectiveness and the power of your sessions with your clients.
You will be given a copy at the start of the program, but feel free to download a copy of the competencies.

Hey Team,
Good day. I’m checking in. I thought we had a video call today at 2pm. I didn’t see any call links or emails on it. Did the call move?
Rollin
-
I was wondering that myself, Rollin. I was unable to make the call live, but I’m not seeing where it was posted for review.
Anyone know what happened?

Also, you can find the recordings in the top right corner of the classroom, under course navigation. The links are also at the bottom of this page
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!!

Hi All,
How are things going with finding lodging in the Boulder area? Does anyone need help or have questions with lodging or anything else regarding the Foundations? Also– for those of you that have booked AirBNBs, please let me know if you have additional rooms available.
Best,
Ivy

Hey Ivy!
I haven’t secured lodging yet, just my flight! I’ll be looking into Air BNB soon. Also, driving wise, is the route to The Star House rough roads? I’m trying to determine which would be the best type of vehicle to rent.
I’m open to splitting an Air BNB cost as well!
-
Hi Melissa,
Thanks for being in touch. Let’s see who might respond in a day or two with an extra spot in their AirBNB. Please chime in, friends!
About the road to Starhouse:
To get to the Starhouse, you will travel up Mapleton Street on the West side of Boulder through a historic neighborhood. It is a beautiful area. Then the road goes up a winding canyon gaining elevation in a fairly dramatic way. Lastly, you will turn off onto a steep dirt road that, if it is icy or snowy, can be a real challenge. For this reason, it is optimal to have a 4×4 in the snowy months to get to the top of the road at the Starhouse. We could also coordinate in this forum to have carpooling arranged with those that have 4×4 vehicles. When the road is dry, it is passable by all vehicles.

Howdy!
Ivy –
Lodging wise I am staying with a friend two nights(not sure which nights yet). But the other parts of the time I am looking into an AirBnB.
Melissa & Joshua –
Did we figure out if there is anyone else looking to stay at an AirBnB other than us three?
– I will be looking at AirBnb’s pretty soon so am just checking so when I look I need to how to see how many rooms etc. Maybe we could split something three ways since we haven’t heard from anyone else? 🙂
Transportation –
I have a ride from the airport to Boulder but will not have a ride the rest of the time. Can we arrange some sort of carpooling? Going to make sure my lodging is somewhere near westside Boulder area so that the carpooling can be easy.
Hope everyone is doing well!

I have not secured any housing yet. I am unfamiliar with AirBnB, but it sounds like Ben and MJ are, so I would be fine with splitting the cost with them if thats the best option for everyone.
I will be flying in, but I have not yet purchased the tickets.
Thus far, I don’t have any ride from the airport or for our time our there. If flights happen to coordinate, I’d like to carpool to where ever we are staying. Otherwise, I may need to Uber to something. I would prefer not to have to rent my own vehicle.
-
Hi all,
The bus from the airport to boulder is very easy. Look up rtd sky ride A/B. Please let ivy know your itineraries if your flying in so we can track everyone.
Thanks! So excited to get started with you all!
-
For those of you who have already purchased tickets, what times are you set to arrive? Perhaps we could try to coordinate and meet up?
How many of us are actually from out of town that will be flying in?
-
Hi all, my name’s Brooke and I’m new to the cohort. Happy New Year! I’ll be flying in from Seattle on the afternoon of the 24th and would be interested in sharing an AirBNB or rental car with any of you. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone!
-
Hey Brooke!
Welcome to the group. Check your inbox messages.
-
Hello everyone-I am also new to the cohort group. My name is Lisa. I am coming in from St.Louis and plan to be staying with family in Boulder during the intensive. I would be delighted to share rides to and from Boulder to Starhouse, since I will not have a car. I’ve taken the bus multiple times from the airport to Boulder and it is very easy and the buses are comfortable and clean. So if you are thinking of busing in from the airport I can highly recommend it. I am a Licensed Psychologist and have a private practice in St. Louis, where I manage a therapy suite for three therapists and three energy workers. I am looking forward to the training, and meeting and working with everyone. It has been great to read the posts and meet everyone that way. It will be terrific to be in person together!
-
Hello everyone, hope the start of the year has been good for you all. I was curious if anyone has got a carpool to the starhouse set up? I would also like to get in on that to split the costs on the way up there.
-
Hi all!!
Just wanted to give a heads up that Brooke, Ben, Joshua and I booked our Air BNB that we will be staying at and are renting an SUV.
Cory – you may wanna reach out and who still needs lodging and see if you can get an Air BNB to split with them!
-
I live in Denver, so I have a place to stay. My car isn’t four wheel drive, so that is why I was hoping to reach out and carpool.
-
Hi Cory and all, I also do not yet have rides up to Starhouse. So I am pretty sure I will be renting an SUV at the Denver airport. I am scheduled to arrive at 7:45 pm Thursday. I will be staying with family and located at Table Mesa and Moorhead, which is just a block from the major Table Mesa bus station. I am good giving a ride to whom ever needs it, both from the airport and then to and from Starhouse. If you just want a ride from the airport to Boulder, there would be no need to $$, and if you wanted daily rides, I am sure we could work out something where you can kick in a bit for the cost of the ride. I am thinking that it would be only the cost up and back to where you are staying and Starhouse, as I will be using the car the rest of the evenings to enhance my visit in Boulder, so would not expect you to split the cost with me. Just let me know if you want to be a part of this.
-
Hi friends,
This is the link to the shared Google Doc for arranging a carpool to the Starhouse. I sent this to your email and I am dropping it here in the forum for easy future reference.
