Foundations January 2019 (Cohort 17)

Ivy Walker · June 4, 2018

Welcome!!!

This is your online classroom area for the Foundations Modules.

When a cohort starts the NCC training they begin with the four Foundation Modules. These modules are offered in sequence and complete the first semester of the program. Once completed, the cohort moves on to the ToolBox Modules where students practice and enhance the foundational skills learned during the Foundation Modules. There are three major categories of learning goals that make up the Foundation Modules:

  • Nature-Connection and Relationship
  • Coaching Competencies
  • Transformational Guiding Competencies

Nature-Connection and Relationship:

Nature-Connection is a state of mind, a way of being.  It is accessible to all people.  It is our birth-right. All our senses are wired for it, our brains and bodies are wired for it.  Nature-connection practices reminds that Nature is the real healer/teacher. We as Nature-Connected Coaches and Guides are facilitators.  Additionally, through our own connected relationship with nature we can learn a ton about how to show-up in the coaching/guiding relationships we share with our clients.

Coaching Competencies:

Professional Coaching is a non-clinical modality for supporting change and growth in clients.  It’s competencies are applicable to many different types of clients such as life-coaching clients, businesses, personal relationships, executives, etc.  The NCC program focus on life-coaching, and during the foundation modules we learn what is expected of us as Professional Coaches while discovering our unique “Coaching Presence”

Transformational Guiding Competencies:

These competencies are what make the NCC work unique from other forms of coaching and guiding. Skills like Deep Listening, Ceremony Facilitation, and Nature as the Guide are not taught anywhere else, or in the same way. Honing these skills will separate you from the rest of the coaches and guides out there, increasing your effectiveness and the power of your sessions with your clients.

You will be given a copy at the start of the program, but feel free to download a copy of the competencies.

  • Below is an outline of different steps involved in completing this part of the training.
  • Below that is a text box that connects you to the group discussion area. Anything you enter into that text area will be shared with the group, similar to a news feed in Facebook.

    Hi Everyone!
My name is Sandy Shea, and I look forward to this momentous journey with all of us! I apologize for being so late to the discussion here. I’ve been doing environmental activist work for the past 30 years. I recently got a master’s degree in ecopsychology from Naropa. I live in Crested Butte, CO.

I have space for three people if you need a ride to Starhouse. I will be staying with friends at 20th & Mapleton, so pretty central for anyone who still needs a ride. You can reply here or call me directly at (970) 349-6424. I’ll also post this on Googlesheets when allowed. 🙂

Hello Sandy, I was wondering if you still had space to the starhouse? I am coming up from Denver, but my car is not four wheel drive. Look forward to seeing you and everyone else Friday.

Hi Sandy, This is Lisa Dahlgren 636-394-6210. I am happy to meet you and are really interested in what you do. I am coming in from St. Louis and do need a ride up to Starhouse. Do you still have space for me? I will be staying at Table Mesa and Tamm, just a block from the large Table Mesa bus station. I don’t know Boulder well enough to know where that is in conjunction with where you are. If you can drive me, where do you want me to meet you? Thanks for reaching out, and I am looking forward to meeting you in person.

Hello everyone, I know this is a little late. I have tried reaching out to several people for a ride to the starhouse. I live in Denver and will be going up to Boulder on my own, and just need a ride to the starhouse because my car is not four wheel drive. I was going to put this here one more time in the hopes of hearing from someone. Looking forward to seeing you all on Friday.

    Hi Cory!

If you still need a ride I can pick you up in Boulder. I live in Broomfield. On a side note when exactly are we suppose to be at the starhouse tomorrow? I can’t seem to find that information.

Morgana, we begin promptly at 9:30 tomorrow morning, but we also invite students to get up there early so that you can walk down to the StarHouse from the parking area and get settled before we start diving into the material.

      Hi M.J.,
Thanks for dropping your question in the forum about the timing of the next Intensive– so everyone can be on the same page.

The Gestalt and Partswork module will be held at the Starhouse from April 22-26. Class days will be held from 9:30am to 4:30pm Monday – Thursday. On Friday, April 26th we will have Fishbowls. Class begins at 9:30am and will be finished at 2:30pm.

For anyone who has not already done so, please always RSVP to the next Intensive by filling out the RSVP form. Many of you have already done so by clicking on the links in the Newsletters that say: RSVP for the next Intensive. I’d like you to know you can also access this form at any time at https://earthbasedinstitute.org/calender/ . Go there, find and click on your Intensive to fill out the RSVP.

      Thanks and very best,
      Ivy

Wish I could join yall this time around but will be missing this upcoming intensive due to my wife not being back at work yet and needing help with the little baby, and new adventures with NatureLink during the intensive time.

Love to you all and will see ya in September!
