    Hi again,

As you are preparing for the Foundations Intensive, I’d like to add one more item to your list: basic rain boots. These can serve two purposes– not only for boots in the rain, but also for morning dew the long grass. Rain boots are a good way to keep your pants dry and stay warm.

    Best,
    Ivy

I was told that Ginkgo biloba helps with or to avoid altitude sickness. And it’s good for memory too which is a bonus 🙂

Hi, here’s the link for the bus from DIA to Boulder:

Also, for High Altitude, you might want to look into “Acli-mate” which is produced locally by a N.D.

Ivy, I used this regularly during my trip to Peru and had no altitude issues. Most people in my group experienced a lot of sickness. I shared some with students as well and it seemed to help. Thank you for sharing this product!

Just thinking of you all and sending vibes of gratitude your way! This quote came across my path recently and thought I’d share:

Hi everyone– Here is the link to the first webinar for Applying Nature Connection to your Life and Career. This course opened last night and the webinar contains introductions and a conversation about nature connection. Listen in for inspiration on the front side of the Foundations! 🙂 .

Hi Everybody! While I start to pack I have some questions-
From the gear list, do I really need or can someone local bring me –
the Min. 100′ of nylon rigging cord (3-5mm) and 4 tent stakes
    lightweight camp chair
I was thinking too that maybe someone local could bring a regular size earth friendly soap, shampoo, etc for us to share?
    bug repellent
    dish wear if necessary
    Thanks, Mel

    Hi everyone,

Oh man, I am sure excited to see and meet all of you in person!! For any of you that I haven’t met yet, I’m Mandy. I’m one of the student mentors for EBI and I can’t wait to dive in with you.

I know that the energy and momentum is picking up speed, and we are in the final stretch before the trip and intensive. Please know we are all sending warm and well wishes for smooth travels, ease in all your connections, and easy packing as you make some of your final preparations. Our time together will be exactly what it needs to be for each one of us, I’m sure!

I wanted to let you all know, if you didn’t already, that I am arriving to the intensive a day late. I should arrive Saturday evening to camp. I will be coming directly from my Vision Quest so will be offline from 6/17-6/22. If you need anything in the next few days, please feel free to reach out to me.

    Safe travels and warm wishes!
    Mandy

    Hi Everybody!!
My checked luggage is all packed!! I’m at 45 pounds and 60″ according to my measurements, so here’s to hoping it’s the same at the airport!

Some things I would need to pick up in Gunnison are-
    sunscreen
    bug spray
    soap
    shampoo
    toilet paper

If you are local and bringing a regular size, or if anyone will have extra and willing to share please let me know so I don’t need to buy travel size, which is such a waste of plastic!

Please let me know ASAP. I don’t always see these messages quickly so feel free to email me at melsr81@gmail.com, find me on Facebook under Melody Rose -with a pic of me and a golden retriever, or text 604-703-6087.
Thanks, see you soon, Mel 🙂

Hey Michael, Mandy, Ivy, Cohort (Carebears!) 18:

Y’all mind sharing what’s in your pack when you lead outings? From First Aid to snacks to cordage/tarps? Cheers!

Hi Matt, I hope the others will have something specific to recommend. Right now I am using a backpack has been deemed uncool by daughter and also an Eddie Bauer larger day pack that was won in a raffle. 😀 Your question reminded me to pass along information about Pro Deals so everyone in the cohort is aware. Outdoor gear manufacturers might give you a ‘Pro Deal’ on their products so you can be an in-the-field recommendation for them. Run a Google search on Pro Deals Outdoor Gear.

thanks for that idea, Ivy! I am ALWAYS on the lookout for Pro Deals!!! Good call! Anyone else wanna chime in on what y’all bring with you? Maybe it is a region specific question in that I have to present to the USFS what I have in the 1st aid kids? Dunno. I can provide a great list that I was able to gather from a well-established adolescent wilderness therapeutic program here in WNC if anyone is interested. Again, it’s a little more on the intensive side than the work that we have been experiencing thus far in this program; however, still valuable info to consider, I think.

Lemme know if y’all are interested and I’ll forward the list!

HEY EVERYBODY! I have been jammed up with my IRS response letter for nonprofit status and abruptly following/amidst that, find myself with no internet connection up at a post-conference-much-needed decompression session in VA where I was told there would be some access…so far have had to drive out a ways from this cabin to get this message up!

I am working thru some business/work/life balance (what else is new! haha!!) and will be able to catch up with my work for this program by the end of this week. I feel I owe an apology to you all for my inconsistency of late with fully showing up for myself, this work, and you all. I appreciate your inspiration and hope for your patience with me, too. As I ask for this of you, I ask it of myself as well.

I look forward to catching some momentum as I return to Asheville from VA and to showing up more consistently for myself and all of you! So excited to see everyone next month and get back on track with my focus/dedication to this specific portion of my journey–of our journey. Much love to you all and I will see y’all soon!

    Hi Cohort 18,
Here’s a tip to share, born out of a good question from Melody:

You do not need to bring any books to the next Intensive. You also do not need to bring your Foundations booklet– though you might find you’d like to refer to it. Most likely, might want to have the Severance Process page to refer to. You could make a copy of this to bring if you are thinking about keeping your luggage light.

Please do bring your ICF Core Competencies. We will use them at every Intensive to refer to during the Fishbowl sessions on Fridays.

    Safe travels!
    Ivy
